CONWAY, S.C. – The Saint Joseph's baseball team opened its 2025 season on Friday, falling to Coastal Carolina, 11-1, at Springs Brooks Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Joseph's (0-1) loaded the bases in both the second and third innings before breaking through for the game's first run.Â
Carson Applegate walked with one out in the top of the third before
Owen Petrich and
Joey Pagano followed with free passes of their own. Coastal's Hayden Johnson then uncorked a wild pitch to score Applegate and give the Hawks a 1-0 lead.

• The Chanticleers answered in the bottom of the inning with three runs, one of them unearned, to take a 3-1 lead.
Â
• Coastal Carolina (1-0) would tack on a run in the fourth and then six more in the sixth before adding a final tally in the seventh to bring about the end of the game.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• Johnson was credited with the win for the Chanticleers, allowing a hit and two walks in three and two-thirds innings in relief of starter Cullen McKay.Â
Frank Ciccone took the loss, allowing four runs, two of them earned, on three hits in three and two-thirds.

• Applegate and
Alex Kelsey both recorded their first hits in a Hawk uniform in the game.
