Box Score TYSONS, Va. – The fifth-seeded Saint Joseph's baseball team opened the Atlantic 10 Championship on Tuesday, falling to fourth-seeded Davidson, 18-3, at Capital One Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Joseph's (24-27) scratched out a run in the top of the second as
Tim Dickinson was hit by a pitch,
Carson Applegate drew a walk,
Aidan Duda was hit by a pitch, and
Joey Gale walked with the bases loaded.

• The Wildcats scored three in the third; JD Woodall hit a two-run double to left center but was caught in a rundown; unfortunately for the Crimson and Gray, a relay throw bounced off his helmet into right field, allowing him to score.

Colin Myers was hit by a pitch to start the third inning and moved to third on a pair of wild pitches before scoring on a single by
Blake Primrose.

• Davidson (26-27) extended the lead in the third on a two-run home run by Michael O'Shaughnessy and in the fourth on a single by Eli Putnam.

• Duda was hit by a pitch again in the sixth, advanced on a walk to Kelsey, and came in to score on a single by Myers to make it a 6-3 game, but the Wildcats scored two in the bottom of the inning on a double by O'Shaughnessy.

• The Wildcats salted the game away with two in the seventh and eight in the eighth.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• Matt Weber tossed three and a third innings in relief of Wilson Perkins, allowing a run on two hits, to earn the win.Â
Colton Book got the start for the Hawks, taking the loss with six runs allowed in five innings; he struck out eight.

• Myers, Petrich, and Primrose each recorded two hits for the Hawks.

The Hawks will play in an elimination game scheduled for either Wednesday night or Thursday morning.
