Baseball Falls to George Mason, 4-3

FAIRFAX, Va. – The Saint Joseph's baseball team fell to George Mason, 4-3, at Spuhler Field on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• George Mason (31-16 overall, 16-7 Atlantic 10) took the lead in the bottom of the second on a groundout by Toby Hueber.

• The Hawks got on the board in the fourth.  Joey Pagano and Owen Petrich hit one-out singles before Blake Primrose tied the game with an RBI double.  Tim Dickinson followed with a single of his own to bring home Petrich and give the Hawks a 2-1 lead.

• Saint Joseph's (21-22 overall, 14-9 Atlantic 10) extended its lead in the fifth as Joey Gale started things off with a double before Alex Kelsey singled and stole second to put two in scoring position with one out; a Carson Applegate sacrifice fly scored Gale to make it a 3-1 game.

• Unfortunately for the Crimson and Gray, the Patriots scored three times in the sixth on a single, an error, and a sac fly to take the lead.

• The Hawks had runners on base in each of the final four innings, but the Patriots were able to keep the Hawks at bay.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• Connor O'Hara allowed three runs on six hits in five innings to earn the win, while Gardner Meeks tossed four shutout innings for the save.  Nathan Stein allowed four unearned runs in five and a third innings and was charged with the loss.
