MERION STATION, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's field hockey team fell to ninth-ranked North Carolina, 8-0, at Ellen Ryan Field on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Joseph's (5-7) held the Tar Heels to just three shots in the first quarter, keeping things level after the opening 15 minutes.

• North Carolina (7-4) got on the board in the second quarter with a pair of goals on a penalty stroke and a corner 70 seconds apart.

• The Tar Heels scored six unanswered goals in an 11-minute span in the third quarter to put the game away.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• UNC held a 20-1 advantage in shots and a 9-2 edge in penalty corners. Charley Bruder had three goals for the visitors to lead all scorers.

• The Tar Heels are the sixth ranked team the Hawks have faced this season; four of those teams are currently ranked in the top 10, and three of them are in the top four.
