MERION STATION, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's baseball team rallied back from a pair of big deficits on Wednesday but ultimately ran out of time as the Hawks fell to West Chester, 14-10, at Smithson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• West Chester (9-2) tallied a run in the first and three in the second to open up an early 4-0 lead.

• The Hawks would tie the game over the course of the next two innings. In the bottom of the second walk and a pair of hit batters loaded the bases with two outs for
Alex Kelsey, who ripped a double down the left field line to clear the bases and cut the deficit to 4-3. A two-out walk to
Alex Venezia was followed by an RBI double from
Jack Saker to tie the game in the bottom of the third.

• The Golden Rams went back ahead in the fourth on a three-run home run by Caleb Strawhecker. He would add a two-run shot in the sixth and the visitors would add one more in the frame to open up a 10-4 lead.

• Saint Joseph's (5-9) hung six on the board in the seventh to tie the game once again.Â
Blake Primrose led off the inning with a home run before a walk to
Richard Beggy and a double by Venezia put two on for Saker, whose groundout brought a run home and cut it to 10-6.

Tim Dickinson immediately followed with a two-run home run to cut the deficit in half. A
Ben Peterson walk and a Kelsey single brought
Ryan Price to the plate, who beat out an infield single to score Peterson; Primrose followed with a single of his own to drive in Kelsey and tie the game.

• Strawhecker went deep for the third time with one out in the eighth; the Golden Rams would then add three more in the ninth inning to close out the scoring.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• Ben Jones earned the win for West Chester while
Justin Sweeney took the loss for SJU.

• Kelsey led the Hawks at the plate, going 5-for-6 with a run scored and three driven in for the Hawks. Strawhecker was 4-for-5 with eight RBI for West Chester.

• A challenge by West Chester in the bottom of the sixth was the first-ever instance of video review at Smithson Field; the Golden Rams won the challenge.
