Box Score SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Saint Joseph's softball team took Seton Hall into extra innings, but the Pirates pushed across a pair of runs in the bottom of the tenth to upend the Hawks, 4-3 on Wednesday afternoon.
 
BY THE NUMBERS

• Lauren Stalica hit her first career homerun in the fifth inning to tie the game.
• Marla Freiwald had her best outing of the season, surrendering one earned run in 4.1 innings of work.
• Ava Farina was also stellar in the circle, authoring 5.1 innings, giving up two unearned runs, striking out three.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Seton Hall got on the board with a run in the bottom of the first.
• St. Joe's was held without a hit through the first four innings. The Hawks made a dent in the hit column and tied the game all on one swing as Stalica led off the fifth with a solo homer, knotting the score at 1-1.
• Grace Brown came up next and reached on an error. She moves to third on a sac bunt and then came in to score on a sac fly by Elissa Hasapis.
• SHU tied the game in the bottom of the frame and threatened for more, but Julia Shearer robbed a homer to end the inning and keep the score at 2-2.
• The game remained at that score into the tenth when Saint Joseph's scratched a run across on a sac fly. Unfortunately for the Hawks, the Pirates plated two in the bottom of the frame to come away with the victory.
