DALLAS – Saint Joseph's sophomore catcher
Blake Primrose was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's District 1 Co-Player of the Year on Friday morning.

He is the third Hawk to earn District Player of the Year honors from the NCBWA after Kevin Kirkby in 2001 and Andrew Cossetti in 2022.

Primrose enjoyed a breakout season in 2026, earning Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference honors as well as a nod for the All-ECAC Team. He was also named one of 16 semifinalists for the Buster Posey Award, given to the nation's top collegiate catcher.

The native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, set new single-season program records with 24 home runs, 78 runs scored, and 72 runs batted in, while his 48 walks are the second-most hy a Hawk in a single season and his 81 hits are tied for third. He was a three-time A-10 Player of the Week honoree, was tabbed for the
Baseball America Team of the Week on April 14, and was named the NCBWA's National Hitter of the Month for April.

Primrose shared Player of the Year honors with outfielder Lorenzo Carrier of Pitt. District 1 encompasses all programs in the states of Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
