TEMPE, Ariz. – Fourteen members of the Saint Joseph's men's and women's tennis programs earned 2025-26 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete honors on Monday. In addition, both squads earned ITA All-Academic Team recognition as well.
For the women's team, junior
Victoria Tracey was honored for the second consecutive year, while junior
Brooke Tackett earned the honor for the first time. Joining the pair on the list are seven other first-time honorees: sophomores
Amari O'Brien,
Claudia Perez-Garcia, and
Gisele Tang, and freshmen
Valeria Casusol,
Elena Fleming,
Evelyn Mejia, and
June Tronhus.
On the men's squad, senior
John Butler claimed his fourth consecutive ITA Scholar-Athlete honor; classmate
Mark Rubin was honored for the third year in a row, as was junior
Othman Bezzaz. Earning accolades for the first time were freshmen
Davi Carlos and
Jakob Gaudreau Barnes.
In order to qualify as an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must achieve at least a 3.5 grade point average over the course of the academic year. To qualify for All-Academic Team status, a team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or better for the year.
