MERION STATION, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's field hockey team is set to begin a new era under first-year head coach Sam Brown on Friday afternoon as the Hawks host New Hampshire at noon at Ellen Ryan Field; Saint Joseph's will then host #11 UConn on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

New Hampshire and UConn will meet at noon on Saturday at Ellen Ryan Field as well.

• The Hawks' new head coach was this week's guest on the Inside the Nest podcast; click here to listen to the episode.

• Saint Joseph's is ranked 20th in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's Division I Preseason Poll released earlier this week; seven opponents on the Hawks' 2026 schedule appear in the poll as well, including UConn, which came in at #11.  It marks the eighth consecutive full season in which the Hawks were ranked in the preseason poll.

• The Hawks were ranked #1 in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Coaches Poll, receiving four of seven first-place votes.  Graduate student Alison Buffington and seniors Erika Culp and Milou Kluyt were named to the Preseason All-Conference Team as well.

• The NFHCA announced its preseason Watchlist on Thursday morning which featured eight Hawks: Buffington, Culp, Kluyt, and fellow senior Cat Arentz; juniors Lily DeWan, Tristan Groff, and Adèle Jardemar; and freshman Monica Piccioli.

• The Hawks will meet another ranked opponent in their next game as they host #8 Liberty on Friday, September 4, before heading across town to take on Drexel on September 6.
