MERION STATION, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's field hockey team dropped a 5-1 result to 14th-ranked Liberty on Friday afternoon at Ellen Ryan Field.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Liberty (2-1) took a 2-0 lead in the first quarter on goals from Zoe Gaillard and Luna Prieri.  The Hawks would settle into the game in the second quarter but could not find the cage and the score remained 2-0 at halftime.
 
• Julieta Tornati scored five minutes into the second half to extend the lead for the Flames.
 
• Saint Joseph's (1-2) got on the board midway through the third as Cat Arentz tipped a ball from Adèle Jardemar into the cage on a penalty corner.
 
• Unfortunately for the Crimson and Gray, Pia Iapichino and Clarisa Iudicello added goals in the third and fourth to set the final margin.
 
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• Diane Saint Martin made four saves in goal for the Flames, while Avi Wagner made four for the Hawks.
 
• Liberty held a 14-6 advantage in shots and a 9-3 lead in corners on the day.
