HOPEWELL, N.J. – Sophomore Lindsey Oremus (7th) and senior Sarah Regnault (8th) finished in the top ten of 122 total racers to lead the Saint Joseph's women's cross country squad to a third-place team finish in a field of nine at the Rider Invitational on Friday evening. The Hawks earned 87 points for the 6.15k race, which was held at Rosedale Park. Richmond (41) and Marist (74) were the only teams to finish ahead of SJU, while Temple (115), Siena (117), Rider (131), TCNJ (154), Rutgers (240), and LIU Brooklyn (276) rounded out the 4-9 slots.
Paced by a 5:49.3 mile time, Oremus covered the 6150 meter course in 22:15.1, followed closely by Regnault in 22:16.6.
Junior Cassidy Weimer finished as SJU's #3 runner in 22:55.8 to place 20th overall, and rookie Meridith Twomey crossed the finish line in 23:07.5 for 22nd. Twomey's 6.15k time was faster than her 6k time from just six days ago (24:21) by over an entire minute.
Freshman Emily Bracken cruised through the finish line in 23:26.5 for 31st overall to round out the scoring for the third-place Crimson and Gray.
Junior Caroline Keegan (23:39.0) and freshman Emily Schaeffer (23:57.5) took 39th and 51st, respectively, to finish as SJU's #6 and #7 runners.
The Hawks will take next weekend off from competition and will return to action at Lehigh University's Paul Short Run on Saturday, October 1 at the Goodman Campus. The race is set to begin at 10:15 a.m.
