PHILADELPHIA (06/09/03) - Head coach Paul Perdue is pleased to announce senior Mike Elger, senior Matt Mueller, and junior Marc Reynolds have been named team captains for the 2004 season.

Elger, a face-off specialist, appeared in all 15 games for Saint Joseph's, scoring one goal. He was second on the team in face-offs, with 50 wins and a .481 win percentage. Elger also scooped up 18 groundballs and is a member of the elite Viking defensive unit.

Mueller is a three-year starter at midfield and started six of 15 games this season for the Hawks. He scored seven goals and added four assists, good for 11 points, which ranked him sixth on the team in scoring. Mueller also collected 16 groundballs.

Reynolds, the second sophomore captain in the program's history in 2003, has been named captain again for 2004. A second team all-MAAC selection, he is a two-year starter at defense and led the team with 78 groundballs.

Saint Joseph's finished second in the MAAC this spring and reached the conference playoffs for the fourth time in the past five seasons. The Hawks finished with a 6-9 overall record and a 5-3 mark in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
