BUFFALO, NY (5/7/04) - Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse players
Marc Reynolds and
Keegan Wilkinson were named to the all-MAAC men's lacrosse team in voting conducted among the league's coaches. Reynolds, a junior defenseman, was also a second team selection last season, while Wilkinson, a sophomore attack, is a first-time honoree.
Reynolds anchored the Hawk defense again this spring and finished second on the team in groundballs with 39. A team captain, Reynolds currently ranks ninth on the SJU career groundballs list with 154. In 2002, he was the first Hawk rookie to earn SJU defensive MVP honors since 1994 and looks to become a three-time honoree at this season's team banquet.
Wilkinson led the SJU offense with 35 points (11 goals, 24 assists). His 24 assists led the team and ranked second in the MAAC and 13th nationally in assists per game (1.71). His 47 career helpers place him seventh after just two seasons on Hawk Hill.
Marist had a strong showing at the league's annual banquet as freshman Keith Detelj was named the MAAC Offensive and Rookie of the Year and first-year head coach Andrew Copeland was honored as the Coach of the Year. Providence's Brian O'Rorke was the Defensive Player of the Year.
Saint Joseph's finished its season with a 4-10 overall record and 3-5 mark in the MAAC. The conference playoffs begin today at Canisius as regular season champion Marist takes on Manhattan and the host Golden Griffs take on Providence.
