PHILADELPHIA (3/10/04) - The Rutgers University Scarlet Knights, ranked fourth in the nation by Inside Lacrosse.com and the USILA, downed Saint Joseph's by a score of 10-3 on Finnesey Field. The loss drops the Hawks to 1-4, while Rutgers improved their record to 3-0.
St. Joe's jumped on top early when freshman
Joe McNeill scored with 13:06 left in the first period. But from that point on, it was all Rutgers, who scored seven straight goals and held the Hawks scoreless until midway through the third quarter.
Saint Joseph's senior
Mike Pagliaro, ended the drought with a goal at 7:42 in the period, and added an assist on sophomore
Keegan Wilkinson's goal later in the quarter to cut the score to 7-3. However, Rutgers crushed any hopes of a Hawks rally by adding three more tallies in the fourth period to make the final score 10-3.
Sophomore
Travis McDonnell played well in goal for the Hawks, making 16 saves in a losing effort.
St. Joe's returns to action on March 13th when they visit Marist at 1:00 PM
