PHILADELPHIA, PA - Three DeMatha High standouts are among the five seniors that have signed national letters of intent to attend Saint Joseph's University on lacrosse scholarships. The DeMatha trio of defender Mike Kirlin (Washington, D.C.), goalie Travis McDonnell (Columbia, MD) and attack Keegan Wilkinson (Washington, D.C.) are joined by Brian Bordan (Severna Park, MD), a midfielder from Severna Park High and Brian Ponne (Annapolis, MD), an attack from St. Mary's High.
"We're very excited about the players that are coming in next season, we're looking forward to the talent that they will bring to our program." said Coach Paul Perdue.
Kirlin, a two-year starter, is a top defender at DeMatha. The school has won the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship for the past three years and were ranked second in the DC area during the 2000-01 season.
McDonnell, a two-year starter at goalie for DeMatha recorded 189 saves, while the team earned a 13-4 record, ranking 11th in the nation. McDonald was selected to the All-Conference team while playing in the All-State tournament.
Wilkinson, a starter at attack scored 26 goals and dished out 33 assists. He led the team in both assists and total points and was named Underclassman Offensive Player of the Year. Wilkinson was also a WCAC third team All-League honoree.
Bordan, a starter at Severna Park High, scored 12 goals and notched 15 assists while winning 85 percent of his face-off opportunities last season.
Ponne, is a two-year starter at attack for the nationally-ranked Saints of St. Mary's High.
