QUARTET OF HAWKS HONORED AT PHILADELPHIA BIG 5 BANQUET

PHILADELPHIA (4/22/04)- Four Saint Joseph's players earned All-Philadelphia Big 5 recognition at the annual postseason banquet on Wednesday night. Seniors Stephanie Graff, Erin Brady and Irina Krasnoshiok all received All-Big 5 honors, while senior Elizabeth "Hootie" Mohan was named to the All-Academic team. Graff, an All-Big 5 First Team selection, led the team in rebounding (7.4), field goal percentage (.491), and blocked shots (76). The 6-2 southpaw holds the school record for blocks in a game (7), season (76), and career (175) and scored her 1,000th career point on February 1 versus Richmond. Graff, also an All-Atlantic 10 Second Team selection, finished her career sixth in career rebounds (788) and 12h in career scoring (1,193) at Saint Joseph's. It is the second time she has earned all-Big 5 recognition, as she was a second team pick in 2001-02. Brady is a second team honoree for the second consecutive season. She paced the Hawks in assists (112) along with averaging 10.7 points per game, good for third on the team. Also an All-Atlantic 10 Third Team pick, Brady scored her 1,000th point on February 26 at Rhode Island. Krasnoshiok earned a spot on the second team after being cited on the first team last year. A preseason honorable mention All-American by Street and Smith's, Krasnoshiok led the team in scoring at 12.8 points per game and is second in rebounding (5.2 rpg.). After scoring her 1,000th point on January 23 versus La Salle, the 6-5 center moved up to 11th on the all-time scoring list with 1,241 points. Krasnoshiok was also an All-Atlantic 10 Third Team selection. Mohan, an interdisciplinary health services major, was named to the Academic All-Big 5 team for the first time in her career. A member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's and SJU Athletic Director's Honor Rolls, the senior sports a 3.51 GPA. Mohan averaged 5.5 ppg. and 4.3 rpg. in her final season on Hawk Hill and was named the team's Co-Best Defensive Player and Unsung Hero. Pennsylvania's Jewell Clark was named the Big 5 Player of the Year and was joined on the first team by Graff, La Salle's Christa Ricketts (Rookie of the Year), Temple's Candice Dupree, and Villanova's Courtney Mix and Liad Suez. The second team consisted of Jenn Fleischer (Penn), Cynthia Jordan (Temple), Jill Marano (La Salle), Brady and Krasnoshiok. The Academic team consisted of Penn's Mikaelyn Austin, Temple's Christena Hamilton, Villanova's Kelly Nash, La Salle's Shaune McLaughlin and Mohan. Saint Joseph's finished its season 22-11 and 12-4 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Hawks advanced to the A-10 Championship game before falling to Temple, 53-48, and reached the WNIT Quarterfinals. The postseason run was the deepest any SJU women's basketball team had reached in the program's history.
