FLORENCE (08/18/02) - After breakfast at the hotel in Sorrento, the group travels north to explore the ruins of Pompeii. Afterwards, a six hour bus ride north puts the team in Florence. Following a team meal the remainder of the evening is free. **************************************************************** Our day began with an early wakeup call, coming at 6:15 PM. After packing our bags and eating breakfast, we said good bye to our luxurious seaside hotel and began the trip to Pompeii. Driving along the Mediteranean coast towards Pompeii provided us with many photo opportunities and many unforgettable sights. Arriving at Pompeii we met our tour guide, Domenic, and toured the ancient city. Pompeii was destroyed in 79 AD, when Mount Vesuvius erupted. We saw the houses that people used to live in, shops, and near the end a cast of a preserved human being. We then boarded the bus and began our long six hour journey to Florence. Arriving at the Hotel Roma in the center of Florence, we went out to a late dinner and then did a little shopping. We all miss you very much and can't wait to get home to tell you all of our stories and show you all of our pictures. The girls wanted to say hello to Ray-Ray.
