PHILADELPHIA (3/23/04) - Saint Joseph's lost to the Villanova Wildcats on Finnesey Field by a score of 8-3. The loss dropped the Hawks to 3-6 on the year, while Villanova improved their record to 6-1.
Villanova scored the first six goals of the game, keeping the Hawks scoreless until the 10:15 mark in the third quarter when sophomore Andrew Four scored off an assist from Keegan Wilkinson to get St. Joe's on the scoreboard and make the score 6-1.
Villanova scored later in the period to push the lead back to six, but Four scored his second tally of the game to make the score 7-2 with 1:44 left in the quarter. The Wildcats would score their eighth and final goal of the game with only 15.9 seconds left to close out the third period.
In the fourth quarter Wilkinson scored a goal to cut the deficit to 8-3, but the Hawks would not get any closer, as Villanova played solid defense to close out the game and pick up the 8-3 victory. St. Joe's goalkeeper Travis McDonnell had a strong game in net, making 17 saves on 25 shots.
The Hawks return to action on March 27th when they head to Wagner College to take on the Seahawks.
