PHILADELPHIA (04/03/03) - Junior Brian Mullan has been named Saint Joseph's NovaCare Athlete of the Month for March after scoring 24 points and leading the men's lacrosse team to a 4-1conference record. The Hawk attack man totaled seven goals and 17 assists in seven games.
Mullan started the month relatively quiet, scoring just one assist in his first two games. He then exploded for six assists in a 9-7 MAAC win at Canisius, just one short of a program record. In a 19-9 win over Marist, Mullan dished four more assists and added a tally as the Hawks scored a season-best 19 goals.
Against Villanova, the nation's toughest defense, was involved in three of SJU's four goals, scoring once and assisting on two others. He ended the month with a three-assist performance against Siena and a three goal, one assist performance in a 13-10 win over Manhattan.
The junior leads the team and the conference in assists (18) and points (26). According to lax.com, he is sixth in the nation in assists. The Hawks are 4-6 overall and their 4-1 MAAC mark leads the conference.
