Men's Basketball Outlasts Fordham In Conference Opener, 53-50

NEW YORK (AP) - Pat Carroll scored 14 points to help Saint Joseph's snap a four-game losing streak with a 53-50 victory over Fordham on Wednesday night.

Chet Stachitas added 10 points for the Hawks (4-6, 1-0 Atlantic 10) in their 10th straight victory over Fordham and 16th in their last 17 meetings.

Marcus Stout made five 3-pointers and scored 17 points for the Rams (4-8, 0-1).

Stout's 3-pointer pulled Fordham to 51-45 with at 2:03 left, but Saint Joseph's Dwayne Jones countered with two free throws with 1:31 remaining.

After Stout hit another 3-pointer and Bryant Dunston added two free throws to pull Fordham within three, Corey McCrae missed a 3-pointer to tie with 2.3 seconds left.

Saint Joseph's used a 10-0 run to take a 27-18 lead late in the first half, with Carroll and Dwayne Lee each scoring four points during the spree.
