Bayliss Picks Up Win at ITA Regional Qualier

HANOVER, NH - Freshman Phil Bayliss was able to win his opening round match, but was topped in the second round of qualifying at the 2005 ITA Northeast Regional Championships at the Alexis Boss Tennis Center and Alan Gordon Pavilion on the campus of Dartmouth University.

Bayliss topped Rutgers' Matt Fawcett in three sets in teh opening round of qualifying,6-2,2-6,6-4. He was then defeated by St. Bonaventure's Andrew Hart, 6-4,6-2. A victory over Hart would have moved Bayliss into the main draw which features the top 128 players in the Northeast.

Senior Antonio Aniello also sought to win his way into the main draw, but was defeated by Princeton's Alex Krueger-Wyman in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.

Tournament action resumes on Friday with Aniello and senior Jimmy Holland competing in doubles. The 11th-seeded tandem in the event, the duo play at 6:00 PM.
