PHILADELPHIA - Tim Iucalona's goal with 3:47 to play proved to be the decisive one as Marist held off Saint Joseph's, 6-5, in men's lacrosse at Finessey Field. Marist improves to 1-2 while Saint Joseph's falls to 1-6.

Trailing 5-3, SJU pulled within one when Mike O'Neill scored an unassisted goal at 11:49 of the fourth quarter. Iuculona tallied with just under four minutes to play to give the Red Foxes a 6-4 lead. The Hawks closed the final margin when O'Neill tallied his second of the game at 1:27.

Marist staked a 2-0 lead in the first quarter, but the Hawks countered with a goal at 5:21 by Keegan Wilkinson, assisted by Alex McColough. Wilkinson then set up Andrew Four for the tying goal at 9:09. The Red Foxes regained the lead before the end of the first quarter on a tally by Andrew Walsh.

The teams were scoreless in the second quarter, but McColough evened the score for the Hawks at 9:53. Marist counted with two more, by Matt Donovan (5:22) and Pat Van Hall (1:26) to take a 4-3 lead.

Dan Morrissey made seven saves for Saint Joseph's while Stephen Gravino stopped nine for the Red Foxes.

The Hawks return to action on April 2 at Canisius.
