Despite holding a 2-1 edge following a 30-minute weather stoppage, the Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse team couldn't hold off Manhattan, falling 7-5 to the Jaspers Saturday afternoon at a Finnesey Field.
Saint Joseph's tied the game at three apiece with three minutes left in the third quarter, but the Jaspers scored four of the next six goals during the rain-filled game to hold off the Hawks.
Individually, freshman Steve Varga led SJU with two goals. Junior attack Keegan Wilkinson, sophomore Mike O'Neil and freshman John Cooper each added one goal apiece.
For Colgate, Justin Otto led the Jaspers' offense with three goals.
In net, Dan Morrissey was the hard-luck loser, making eight saves in the loss.
With the loss, Saint Joseph's falls to 2-10 overall and 1-4 in the MAAC, while Manhattan improves to 7-4 overall and 6-0 in the MAAC.
The Hawks return to action Wednesday evening versus Wagner. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Finnesey Field.
