Despite a fast start, Saint Joseph's (5-9, 1-5 A-10) was unable to slow down a second half surge by Duquesne (11-3, 5-1 A-10) and dropped an 11-6 decision in Atlantic 10 women's lacrosse action on Finnesey Field. Sophomore Jenny Egan finished with three goals to lead SJU.
The Hawks got on top quickly as Egan netted the first three goals of the game, two on free position attempts to give SJU a 3-0 advantage with 18:29 to play in the first half.
Duquesne rallied, netting the next four goals to take the lead, but St. Joe's scored before intermission to make it a 4-4 game at the half.
Duqusene's Ginger Flocco scored all three of her goals in the second half, as the Dukes outscored SJU in the second hald 7-2 to pick up the win.
Duquesne outshot the Hawks for the game 27-25 and held a 32-25 edge in groundballs. Courtney Huff registered 13 save in goal for St. Joe's, while her counterpart, DU's Sarah Pacini had 12 stops.
Finley finished with two goals and senior Shannon Scott added a tally for the Hawks.
SJU closes out the season on Sunday at St. Bonaventure.
