LOUDONVILLE, NY -
A 5-0 first half deficit proved to be too much for the Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse team (3-11, 2-6 MAAC), as SJU dropped its season finale to Siena (4-11, 2-6 MAAC) at Siena Field. Three different Hawks tallied goals for the Crimson and Gray.
The Hawks got goals from Keegan Wilkinson, Mike O'Neill and Brian Ponne and an assist from Alex McColough.
The Saints held the Hawks scoreless for the first 30 minutes of play and took a 5-0 lead at the break.
The Hawks opened the third quarter with an O'Neill goal at 8:04, two minutes later teammate Ponne scored to put the Hawks on the board, 5-2.
The tension continued to mount through out the fourth quarter. Siena connected to give the Saints a 6-2 lead with 7:55 remaining on the clock. The Hawks never gave up and Wilkinson pulled his team to within three, (6-3) with 7:07 left.
Dan Morrissey finished with eight saves.
The Hawks won 7-of-13 faceoffs, but the Saints dominated 38 to 20 in groundballs.
