Holland and Adams Winners as Hawks Fall to Harvard, 5-2

FLUSHING MEADOWS, NY - Impressive victories at first and third singles by senior Jimmy Holland and freshman Pat Adams were the highlights as Saint Joseph's opened play at the 2005 ECAC Division I Men's Tennis Invitational at the National Tennis Center with a 5-2 loss to third-seeded Harvard.

A tight match throughout, the Crimson took two of the three doubles contests to secure the doubles point. The Hawks picked up a win at #2 doubles as freshman Phil Bayliss and senior A.J. Garabedian prevailed in a tie-breaker, 9-8 (8-6). Holland and classmate Antonio Aniello were edged at #1, 8-5, while Adams and senior Chris Spencer fell 8-4 at #3.

The singles competition was also well contested with Holland and Adams earning wins. Holland prevailed in a third set tie-breaker, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (9-7). Adams, meanwhile won in a super-tie breaker after the matches outcome had been decided, 5-7, 7-6, 11-9.
