Field Hockey Topples West Chester, 5-0

West Chester, PA - Saint Joseph's field hockey earned its third Atlantic 10 win defeating West Chester, 5-0, Friday. Senior Nicole Antonini led the offensive charge for the Hawks, notching a hat-trick as SJU earned its seventh shut-out of the season.

Seniors Maureen Casserly and Lauren Luft added to the goal total, each scoring in the second half to secure the win for Saint Joseph's. Luft also had two assists, earning a total of four points on the day. Freshman Anne Schreuders continues to emerge as an offensive threat for the Hawks, making two assists for two points.

Goalies Rebecca Cunfer and Gabriella Shrier split the game evenly with cunfer making four saves in the first half and Shrier making two in the second.

Saint Joseph's out-shot West Chester 12-8 for the day. The Hawks up their record to 9-5 overall and 3-0 in the A-10 while the Golden Rams drop to 2-12 (0-3 A-10).

The Hawks return to action Sunday, October 15, 2006 when they take on cross-town rivals La Salle (4-10, 0-3 A-10). SJU goes into the game undefeated in conference play thus far.
