The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team earned its second straight victory of the week as the Hawks topped Drexel, 4-3, Sunday afternoon.
Saint Joseph's earned the first point of the match as it won all three doubles matches. The Hawks' duo of junior Stephania Velazquez and freshman Jen Kedzierski posted an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles, while Marisa Donelson and Gina DiGiacomo earned an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles for SJU. Saint Joseph's tandem of Lauren Kuhmerker and Krysta Contino earned an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, the Hawks split the six matches as Kedzierski, Guers and Donelson each claimed victories. Kedzierski downed Emily Lewis 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, while Guers topped Melissa Lewis 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. Donelson capped the match for Saint Joseph's with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.
With the win, the Hawks improved to 9-4 on the season, while Drexel fell to 0-1 with the loss.
