Amherst, MA - Saint Joseph's field hockey earned its second straight conference win on Sunday beating UMASS in an away game, 3-2. The win brings the Hawks' record to 8-5 overall and 2-0 in the Atlantic 10, also giving them a winning record on the road of 4-3.

SJU held at a 2-0 lead at the end of the first half, after senior Nicole Antonini notched a goal off an assist from senior Maureen Casserly out of a flurry in front of the net. The goal was Antonini's tenth of the season, and Casserly's second assist. Freshman Anne Schrueders added the second goal off a penalty stroke, for her second goal of the season.

The Minutewomen came back strong in the second half, scoring four minutes into play. UMASS then tied up the score at 62:40 off of pases following a penalty corner. With only two minutes remaining in regulation, Pizzi was able to get a shot in the cage with the goalie out. Senior Lauren Luft assisted the play, making it her sixth of the season and Pizzi's sixth goal.

The Hawks edged the Minutewoman 6-3 in penalty corners and 16-8 in shots for the day. SJU continues to battle on the road, traveling next to West Chester on Friday, October 13th. Game start is set for 3:00pm.
