SJU Blanks La Salle and St. Pete's in First Spring Duals

JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Joseph's Men's tennis team opened the dual match portion of its spring schedule with a pair of 5-0 shutout victories over La Salle and St. Peter's at the Yanitelli Recreational Bubble. The Hawks did not drop a set while opening 2-0.

SJU dropped just six total games in blitzing the Explorers. Senior Jimmy Holland pasted Marco Onorato at #1 (6-1, 6-0), Pat Adams won over Ross Flockerzie at #2 (6-1, 6-2), Chris Spencer bested Scott Karowski at #3 (6-0, 6-1) and Antoino Aniello blanked Eric Glick at #4 (6-0, 6-0). In doubles A.J. Garabedian and Phil Bayliss were easy 6-0, 6-1 victors.

The Peacoacks put up more of a fight than La Salle, but SJU still registered an easy win over St. Peter's. Holland (6-4, 6-3) was pushed by Cprime Realista at #1. SJU swept the #2-#4 slots with Spencer (6-0, 6-3), Garabedian (6-0, 6-1) and Bayliss (6-2, 6-2) all winning. SJU picked up the doubles point as Brent Kahl and Brian Costello won 6-1, 6-1.
