Saint Joseph's falls to Lehigh 11-5

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Seven goals in the second half proved to be too much for the Hawks as Lehigh (2-1) defeated Saint Joseph's (0-4) 11-5 at Finnesey Field. Seniors Alex McColough and Keegan Wilkinson led the scoring for the Hawks with two goals a piece.

Lehigh jumped out to an early lead scoring two goals that went unanswered in the first quarter. David Gaunt scored both goals for the Mountain Hawks with assists from Stephen Marino and Alec Hooff. Jeff Weiner added another two in the second period before the Hawks finally responded with a short handed, unassisted goal by Wilkinson with eight seconds remaining in the half.

The second half opened with another goal by Wilkinson assisted by Steve O'Brien but Lehigh never lost the lead going on to score five goals in the third quarter compared to Saint Joseph's three.

McColough added two goals, one assisted by Wilkinson with 6:28 remaining in the third quarter and he second unassisted with 7:20 left in the fourth. Sophomore Steve Varga added a goal to the Hawks' tally assisted by Andrew Four with 2:15 remaining in the third quarter.

Lehigh scored three of their goals with a man advantage. The Mountain Hawks out-shot Saint Joseph's 32-20 and picked up 28 groundballs to 16.
