Men's Netters Set Sights on Atlantic 10 Crown

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The first of nine Atlantic 10 Spring champions will be crowned this weekend, April 7-9, as the 2006 Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship takes place at the Club 4 Life in Monroeville, PA. Saint Joseph's, the tournament's third seed, received an opening round bye and will begin play on Friday at 2:00 PM against either sixth-seeded Richmond or 11th-seeded Rhode Island. Seniors Antonio Aniello, A.J. Garabedian, Jimmy Holland and Chris Spencer look to close out their careers with an A-10 title.

Tournament play starts on Friday, Apr. 7 at 8:00am, with the final match of the day beginning at 8:00pm. On Saturday, Apr. 8, play begins at 8:00am and with the final match slated for 5:00pm. The seventh- and ninth-place matches of the Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship will commence on Sunday, Apr. 9 at 8:00am. The third- and fifth place matches will follow at 11:00am, with the championship match closing out the event at 2:00pm.

Richmond won its second A-10 men's tennis title a row and third in the last four years in 2005 by defeating Dayton, 4-2, in the final. Joining the Hawks, Rams, Spiders and Flyers in the quest for the Atlantic 10 title are Charlotte, Duquesne, Fordham, George Washington, La Salle, St. Bonaventure, Saint Louis, Temple, and Xavier.
