Women's Lacrosse Falls to Lehigh, 13-5

Bethlehem, PA - The Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team suffered their eighth loss of the season Tuesday night as Lehigh downed the Hawks, 13-5, at Ulrich Sports Complex. SJU falls to 6-8 on the season while Lehigh improves to 8-8 as they advance to the Patriot League tournament. Four different Hawks combined for the scores.

The Mountain Hawks jumped out to a three-goal lead before the Hawks got on the board. Freshman Jenna Martino converted a pass from Lindsey-Kate McCool at 15:18 for SJU's first goal. Saint Joseph's tallied another goal before the break as McCool scored off a free position shot.

Lehigh added six goals to open the second half. At the 7:19 mark, Jessica Westlake tallied an unassisted goal for the Hawks. Martino notched her second goal of the game, again from McCool, with 3:16 remaining. Defensive player Jontell Lyons scored her first career goal with 0:31 seconds left to play. Westlake assisted on the goal.

Saint Joseph's recorded 19 shots and picked up an equal amount of groundballs. The Hawks earned 10 draw controls in the contest and goalkeeper Suzy Herlihy made 11 saves.

The Hawks return to action Friday, April 27th at Massachusetts. Opening draw is slated for 3:00 pm.
