CHARLOTTE, NC - The Saint Joseph's baseball team suffered its third consecutive shutout loss on Friday evening, falling to the Charlotte 49ers by a score of 4-0. Freshman lefthander Randall Mower pitched well for the Hawks, surrendering just one earned run in six innings of work. Mower also scattered six hits while striking out four.

Charlotte (25-5, 7-1 Atlantic 10) took an early 1-0 lead in the third when Cory Lane took Mower deep in his second at bat. 49er pitcher Spencer Steedley had a two-out triple in the sixth that plated two runs. Four walks and a fielder's choice in the seventh inning gave Charlotte their final tally.

For Saint Joseph's (4-22, 2-6 Atlantic 10), junior Jereme Scott was two-for-two with a walk.

The teams will complete the series Saturday afternoon at 2:00 PM.
