Box Score

FAIRFAX, Va. - The Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team lost at #13 George Mason, 14-6, on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks were led by Jenna Martino as she scored three goals and added an assist in the eight-goal loss.

George Mason (6-1) was on the scoreboard early and often, knocking home the first six goals of the game. It took until the 7:28 mark in the first half for Saint Joseph's (4-4, 0-1 A-10) to get on the board, due to a Jessica Westlake goal, which was assisted by Martino. Saint Joseph's scored two of the last three goals for a 7-2 half time score in favor of the Patriots.

George Mason came out gunning in the second, scoring just over six minutes into the half, before SJU rallied for four of the next six goals to get within four goals at 10-6 with 4:52 remaining in the game.

The small rally by the Hawks was thwarted as Mason tallied four goals in the last four three plus minutes to run the game to its 14-6 final score line.

The Patriots were the aggressor on Saturday, outshooting Saint Joseph's 32-20, picking up more ground balls by a margin of 18-9, while applying pressure in SJU's defensive clearance attempts that saw the Hawks fail to clear eight of 20 attempts.

SJU net minder Suzy Herlihy made 13 saves in the loss, which was the Hawks' second in a row. SJU will return for a midweek match up at Drexel on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. on Vidas Field.
