PITTSBURGH, Pa. --The Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team fell behind early and never recovered as Duquesne defeated the Hawks 14-11 on Sunday afternoon. The Hawks received a standout performance from Jenna Martino who tallied seven goals, including five in a row in the second half.
The Dukes jumped on Saint Joseph's early scoring the first three of the game en route to an 8-2 first half lead. SJU received scoring from Christina Colangelo and Abby Renninger (from Lindsey-Kate McCool) to cut Duquesne's lead to 4-2. From there the Dukes ran off four more before Jenna Martino stopped the bleeding for an 8-3 half time lead in favor of Duquesne.

SJU would go on to score seven of the next eight goals in an 11-minute span to cut the Dukes' lead to 13-11. The furious 7-1 run was ignited by six Martino goals. Four of the tallies were unassisted goals, while two were free-position goals.
Despite being down just two with 3:20 remaining, SJU would not be able to continue its charge and Duquesne would net a late tally with a second left to end the game.
