Box Score

EAST NORRITON, Pa. - The Saint Joseph's softball team lost an extra-inning pitcher's duel 3-1 to Fordham in an Atlantic 10 contest on Saturday. Rams pitcher Allison Twarowski threw 170 pitches over 10 innings to pick up the complete game victory.

The loss dropped the Hawks' record to 16-19 and 9-7 in conference play. Fordham improved to 29-24 overall and 9-7 in the Atlantic 10.

Twarowski and Hawk starter Dani Gonzales were locked in a pitcher's duel for nine innings until Gonzales gave up a two-run blast in the 10th to Erin Fisher. The home run, Fisher's fifth of the season, also brought in Sam Pellechio to break a 1-1 deadlock.

Saint Joseph's had tied the game in the seventh inning on an RBI single by Gonzales. Erika Rosenwinkel scored on the play after breaking up Twarowski's bid for a no-hitter with a double to left center.

The Hawks' best chance to pull ahead came in the eighth inning, when they left the bases loaded with one out. Twarowski gave up one run during the game, striking out four and walking four. Gonzales struck out seven over nine-plus innings, walking none and allowing three earned runs. Lauren Cognini notched three outs without giving up a run in relief of Gonzales.

Next up for the Hawks is a doubleheader at East Norriton Field on Sunday afternoon against George Washington at noon.
