PHILADELPHIA -
The Saint Joseph's softball team batted .424 (25-of-59), and held Penn to just one run as the Hawks swept their doubleheader at Penn, 4-1 and 10-0 Wednesday afternoon.
In the opener, senior pitcher Dani Gonzales was dominant, allowing just one run, while scattering five hits to go with six strike outs.
At the plate, Saint Joseph's tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the second as senior Sarah Falk drove in classmate Erika Rosenwinkel.
The Hawks grabbed their first lead, 2-1 in the fourth on a run by freshman Bernadette Moran, and added a pair of insurance runs in the fifth on a two-run triple off the bat of Rosenwinkel.
In game two, Saint Joseph's tallied a run in the first, another in the third and yet another in the fourth to open a 3-0 edge. And it didn't end there for SJU's offense.
The Hawks scored four times in the fifth, with Falk collecting a pair of RBI, while three more runs in the sixth ended the game and upped the Hawks' record to 9-9 on the year.
