EVANSTON, Ill. - The Saint Joseph's field hockey team lost to Northwestern on Sunday, falling to the Wildcats by a 7-3 score. Senior Anne Schreuders scored a pair of goals to up her team-leading total to five for the season.

Northwestern (8-2) scored a pair of goals 1:39 apart early in the first half to jump ahead. Chelsea Armstrong deflected a shot past Kelly Swanick for her first goal of the game before Elizabeth Dobbs put in a pass from Jill Putnam to double the lead.

Putnam added a tally of her own midway through the stanza to give the Wildcats a 3-0 lead. Five minutes before the end of the half, Schreuders scored on a penalty corner attempt, but NU would restore the three-goal advantage just 69 seconds later on a goal by Courtney Plaster on a corner attempt.

Armstrong converted a corner for her second goal of the game 3:20 into the second half before a Kaylee Pohlmeyer penalty stroke put Northwestern up 6-1.

Saint Joseph's (1-6) would score two of the last three goals, as Kellie Walter scored on an assist from Schreuders, who would close out the scoring herself on a penalty corner in the final two minutes. In between, Plaster scored her second goal of the day for Northwestern.

Schreuders finished with two goals and an assist on the afternoon, while Walter added a pair of assists to her goal. Jenn Schultz also assisted on a pair of goals as well.

For the Wildcats, in addition to the pair of goals from Armstrong and Plaster, Kendra Sirak added a pair of helpers and Sarah Marcincin and Stacy Uchida contributed three apiece.

In the cages, Swanick made a career-best 12 saves while Amanda Wirth had seven for Northwestern.

Saint Joseph's will play Saturday and Sunday in Lock Haven, Pa. The Hawks will take on Saint Francis on Saturday before facing Lock Haven on Sunday.
