Women's Tennis Drops Match to Delaware State, 6-1

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team dropped its match to Delaware State, 6-1, Wednesday afternoon at the SJU Tennis Complex. The Hawks got a victory from sophomore Nicole Esposito at No. 5 singles to earn the team's point.

The Hawks (1-1) opened the match with a win at No. 1 doubles as freshman Devi Jadeja and Laura Matz posted an 8-6 victory over Christina Andrade and Marina Sicic. The Hornets won the opening point of the match though, earning wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.

Switching to singles, Esposito earned a 7-6, 7-5 decision over Kristina Aleksic to give the Hawks a point. Junior Sally Kalani Stainier was competing into the third set before retiring due to a minor injury.

Delaware State posted wins at the other five singles matches to improve to 4-0 on the year.

Saint Joseph's returns to action this Saturday against Towson.
