The Saint Joseph's field hockey team conceded three early goals on Sunday and Massachusetts rode the wave to a 4-1 victory at Garber Field.  Nicole McCreight scored her 15th goal of the season, tying her for the fourth-highest single-season goal total in SJU history.
Massachusetts (11-6 overall, 5-0 Atlantic 10) scored three goals in a span of 6:21 midway through the first half to take a commanding lead.  Thando Zono scored her third and fourth goals of the season on penalty corners before Mika Black tallied her first to put the Minutewomen on top, 3-0.
McCreight's goal, off a corner attempt, brought Saint Joseph's (6-11 overall, 3-2 Atlantic 10) back within two.  Caitlyn Crane and Hannah Rogers notched assists on the play.
Unfortunately for the Crimson and Gray, that would be all on the day, as Katie Kelly added a penalty stroke goal with 2:38 to go to seal the win.
Kelly Swanick made 14 saves in the cage for the Hawks while Abby Hoover added a pair of defensive saves.  Alesha Widdall had six stops for UMass.
Saint Joseph's returns home for one last contest, a 3:00 p.m. start against Lock Haven on Friday.  Next Sunday, the Hawks will wrap up the regular season with a game at Richmond.
