Men's Lacrosse Falls to Penn, 16-5

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse team dropped a 16-5 decision to Penn at Franklin Field on Wednesday night. Five players scored for the Hawks as Artie Marrapese tallied two assists on the night.

The Quakers took control of the game early as they out-shot the Hawks, 14-3, and jumped out to a 9-0 lead at the end of the first period.

Sean Evans put the first and only goal on the board for the Hawks in the second period as Penn went on to add five goals for a 14-1 advantage at the break.

In the third quarter, goalkeeper Chris Moffa, made four saves in net and only allowed one goal but the Hawks were unable to muster any offense until the fourth.

SJU out-shot Penn, 15-5, in the fourth quarter and scored four goals. Mark Anton and Steve Dunn scored the first two goals for the Hawks, while Marrapese assisted Kyle Williams ' goal and a Geoff DeSoye goal with nine minutes to go. Penn wrapped up all scoring with 7:30 left for a 16-5 final.

The Hawks take on Brown next on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Finnesey Field.
