Women's Lacrosse Falls to Old Dominion, 14-9

Norfolk, Va. - The Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team fell to Old Dominion, 14-9, on Saturday afternoon at Powhatan Sports Complex. Sophomore Julie Mineweaser scored two goals and dished an assist in the loss.

ODU jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first 10:17 before Mineweaser scored the Hawks first goal at the 19:04 mark. After three Lady Monarch goals, Mineweaser sparked a Saint Joseph's 6-1 run scoring at the 7:30 mark and assisting Jen Peter's goal two minutes later.

Jenna Martino slung a ball into the net with two minutes left in the first half and ODU's Ashley Kellogg scored her fourth goal of the game to make it 10-4 at the break.

Saint Joseph's freshman Meghan Mitchell scored her first career goal just 24 seconds into the second half. At the 18:01 mark Peters netted a free-position shot and freshman Gwen Nihill set up Kristen Reynolds for a goal to bring the Hawks within three with 15 minutes remaining in the game.

Kellog didn't waste anytime scoring her fifth goal just 44 seconds later. After another ODU score the teams traded goals until the last minute of play for a 14-9 final.

Senior goalkeeper Kaitlin LaBarbera finished with 10 saves in the cage.

Saint Joseph's hosts Duquesne next at Finnesey Field on Friday at 4:00 p.m.
