PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team fell short of a late comeback on a 7-2 run led by Jen Peters and Grace Dinn, to drop a 13-12 decision to St. Bonaventure on Sunday afternoon at Finnesey Field.

The Bonnies jumped to a 2-0 lead with two goals just 35 seconds apart with 23:06 left in the first half. Saint Joseph's Julie Mineweaser and Jenna Martino knotted the game at 2-2 with goals in the ninth and 10th minutes to start an SJU 5-1 run in the frame. Hawk goals by Dinn, Martino, and Francesca Volpe gave Saint Joseph's a 5-3 lead at 12:14 before the Hawks went scoreless for the next 18 minutes.

Saint Bonaventure went on an 8-0 run in the 18 minutes for an 8-5 halftime lead and 11-5 edge in the second with 23:44 left before Peters would spark the Hawks 7-2 run at the 21:44 mark to put SJU back in the game.

In the run Peters scored three goals and assisted one of Dinn's three while Martino added a goal and Mary Elizabeth Klepper had two assists. After Dinn's goal with 2:51 remaining the Bonnies kept the ball from the Hawks for the remaining minutes for a 13-12 final.

Peters finished with five points (3 goals, 2 assists) while Dinn tallied four goals and Martino added three.

Senior goalkeeper Kaitlin LaBarbera had seven saves in net for the Hawks.

SJU takes on La Salle next at the Explorers' McCarthy Stadium on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
