The Hawks added their second run of the inning as freshman Taryn Ashway scored on a RBI single by classmate Dana Parks.
Saint Joseph's sophomore pitcher Erin Gallagher pitched a strong 4.2 innings of work, but the Cardinals charged a run to her as they scored their lone run on a bases-loaded walk.
Ashway, who walked in the Ball State run, settled down and held the Cardinals in check, going 2.1 strong innings to preserve the win for the Hawks and earn the save. Gallagher was credited with the win to improve to 3-2 on the year after allowing just two hits and striking out five.
