Box Score

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team dropped a 15-7 decision to Richmond on Sunday afternoon at Finessey Field as it honored two graduating seniors - Jenna Martino (Oceanport, N.J./Shore Regional) and Rae Wojnar (Riverton, N.J./Nazareth Academy).

SJU's Jen Peters opened scoring two minutes into play with a free-position goal, but Richmond came firing back with three goals in the next three minutes and added another goal at 16:02 for a 4-1 lead.

Martino got a pass from Alana Glanell and netted one for the Hawks with 9:37 to go but two fouls cost the Hawks two more goals as the Spiders connected on back-to-back free-position shots to put SJU down by four with 6:23 left in the frame.

Martino sprinted past Spider defenders and drilled a ball by Richmond goalkeeper with just 17 seconds on the clock but the Spiders won the draw and retaliated, scoring a goal as time expired for a 7-3 lead at the break.

In the second half, the Hawks got within three when Alli MacDonald tapped a lose ball into the net at the 20:09 mark and when Mary Elizabeth Klepper hit Grace Dinn off a run for a goal six minutes later, but the Spiders were relentless.

With 4:13 to go Richmond had scored four goals to take a seven point lead. Dinn and Peters each scored in the last three minutes but the Spiders sealed the win at 15-7 with three additional goals.

Martino finished with two goals in her last game on Finnesey Field while Dinn and Peters added two apiece and Glanell tallied two assists.

The Hawks return to action when they travel to Massachusetts on Friday. Game time is set for a 5:00 p.m.
