VILLANOVA, Pa. - Saint Joseph's catcher Brooke Darreff made the most of her senior day, drilling a solo home run to centerfield in the Hawks' 1-0 victory over George Washington Saturday afternoon at Villanoa University's Softball Field.

Saint Joseph's (21-14, 5-5 Atlantic 10) had just one hit over the opening three innings, but Darreff delivered the game's biggest blow to lead off the bottom of the fourth. Darreff blasted a solo home run to dead centerfield off of the Colonials' Elaine Nescio to give her team the lead.

Sophomore pitcher Erin Gallagher made the lead stand. Despite allowing two hits in the opening three innings, Gallagher shutdown the GW offense from there, allowing just one base runner over the final four innings to pick up the complete-game victory. She finished the game with a game-best seven strikeouts, while earning her 17th victory of the season, two shy of matching the SJU single-season mark.

Saint Joseph's hosts Fordham on Sunday. The first game of the doubleheader begins at noon at Drexel University's Vidas Field.

GAME NOTES: The Hawks honored seniors Brooke Darreff and trainer Matt Moreau for their dedication with a pregame ceremony.
