Washington, D.C. - The Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team fell to George Washington, 11-9, on Friday evening. The Hawks leading scorer this season, Grace Dinn, tallied four goals against the Colonials.

GW took an early 2-0 lead and maintained the lead despite the Hawks trailing closely the entire game. Dinn's free position goal to get SJU within one at 2-1 with would be the closest the Hawks would get for the rest of the game.

After three GW goals freshman Nora Mcguire dished her first assist of the game to freshman Gwen Nihill, who started a 3-1 run for the Hawks. Free-position goals by Alana Glanell and Dinn brought the Hawks within two with 3:41 left in the half.

GW held the Hawks off while tacking on two goals before Mcguire set up freshman Mary Elizabeth Klepper who slung a ball by the Colonials' keeper with one second lingering on the clock for an 8-5 halftime score.

In the second half, the Colonials added another goal before Klepper attacked again to make it 9-6. After another GW goal Mcguire assisted her third goal of the game as she set Dinn up who scored with 21:59 remaining before both teams went scoreless for the next 12 minutes.

At the 9:31 mark Jen Peters scored a free-position goal to bring the Hawks within two but GW netted another with 6:39 remaining. Dinn tallied her fourth goal with 4:05 left for an 11-9 final.

SJU goalkeeper Kaitlin LaBarbera made seven saves in the cage.

The Hawks host Richmond on Sunday in their last home game of the season. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
