Former Saint Joseph's men's tennis standout and 2009 graduate Phil Bayliss is in the midst of a 4,500-mile bicycle trek from San Diego, California to Avalon, New Jersey as part of the "Bike Towards the Cure," an event organized by Bayliss to raise money for the fight against cancer.

Bayliss, himself a cancer survivor, has teamed up with longtime friend Jon Triantafyllou for the cross-country ride. The pair are also working with former SJU student-athletes Krista Bordogna and Kyle Murray, as well as current field hockey student-athlete Katie Maguire.

The team departed from San Diego on June 12 and is expected to arrive in Avalon on August 18.
