The Saint Joseph's men's soccer team fell to Penn, 2-0, in Friday night's season opener on Finnesey Field.
The Quakers outshot the Hawks 8-2 in the first half and Penn freshman Stephen Baker, who tallied 10 shots on the night, netted the first goal off a pass from Nick Unger in the 39th minute.
The Hawks controlled the beginning of the second half, keeping possession of the ball while firing six shots but it wasn't enough to beat Penn goalkeeper Ben Berg.

Christian Barreiro gave Penn its second goal late in the half. He broke away down the left sideline and fired a ball into the inside left post which deflected into the back of the net with under nine minutes to play.
Saint Joseph's senior Colin Baker had a few close calls with five shots on the night but unfortunately couldn't find the back of the net while three other Hawks each had one shot. Penn had more opportunities with five corner kicks to Saint Joseph's one.
Freshman Yiannys Degermentzidis made his debut in net with five saves for the Hawks.
Saint Joseph's hosts Towson on Sunday with a 7:00 p.m. start on Finnesey Field.
